PERSIANS

This breed has been recognized for more than a century. These cats may have originated in Asia Minor and were first seen in the West in the XVIII century. Earlier Persians had long heads, large ears, small eyes, and long bodies. In the late 1960´s, extreme persians, with rounded heads, small ears, large eyes, and short and massive bodies, began to be bred. Nowadays, this is the type preferred by breeders. Persian eyes are copper or copper orange, green (in chinchillas), occasionaly they may be blue or odd eyes only in white and bicolor persian. They come in all solid colors (white, black, blue, red, cream, cinnamon, fawn, chocolate, and lilac), tortoiseshell, tabby (classic, mackarel, and spotted), tipped (shaded and smoke), silver, and their combinations with white (bicolor). |
